Like the insulation and heating and cooling systems , the high performance windows, and the ventilation, air flow and airtightness systems, the actual physical structures of the building are key elements to integrate in the design process for both new builds and renovations. External claddings, roofing and internal linings and flooring may be the visible fabric of the home, but other aspects – that homeowners and residents won’t necessarily be aware of – are just as important.
