BRANZ
The Building Research Association of NZ (BRANZ) is an independent research organisation providing practical research, testing, quality assurance and expertise to support better buildings.
BRANZ was established in 1970 to work in partnership with government and the industry to lead research into improved building techniques and materials, and provide an advisory service and purpose-built testing facility and laboratory. The work has evolved over the decades to meet the needs of the industry and increased interest from homeowners.
Research priorities developed in response to industry concerns, including weathertightness, energy use, life cycle assessment tools, and transitioning to a zero-carbon built environment.
Via its website BRANZ provides a diverse range of tools, webinars, workshops, professional development seminars and eLearning modules, research publications, technical reports and case studies.
BRANZ’s work is funded by the industry through the Building Research Levy.
