Beacon Pathway and the Superhome movement present a full day tour with lunch provided and drinks and networking at the end of the Bus Tour. For architects, designers, planners, builders, developers, and other building professionals.

A unique opportunity to learn from the expert designers and builders presenting at each home about some of the most innovative high-performance, highest Homestar rated homes being built in Canterbury.

These homes showcase energy and water efficiency, modern construction methods, and are part of the Superhome Movement - a not-for-profit industry-led group focused on creating transformative change in the New Zealand building industry.

Join this inspirational bus tour and meet with other building professionals in an enjoyable and open learning environment.


8:25am Leave from English Park, 127 Cranford Street, Christchurch

8:50am – 9:30am: Tour through 20 Lamorna Road, New Brighton- Affordable home generates more power than it uses with airtight panel construction, lovely Matai floors, and Totara cladding. [Presented by Fiona MacPherson Architecture / Black Hut Designs.]

9:40 am – 10:30am: 124 Bowhill Rd, New Brighton - NZ's second 10 star home. An exemplar beachside home bursting with innovation including greywater recycling and hush acoustic ceiling panels. [Presented by Nook Architecture and Z Built Ltd]

Coffee and Toilet Stop

11:00am – 12.00pm: 160 Bridle Path, Heathcote Valley - Welhaus sustainable SIPs panels, recessed uPVC SuperWindows, ducted air conditioning system, earthquake resilient foundations.[Presented by Bob Burnett Architecture and Z Built Ltd]

12:15pm – 1:30pm: Lunch and discussions at local Café - The Brewery, Woolston

1:45pm – 2:30pm: 7a Brittan Terrace, Lyttlelton - Compact living built to European standards. NZ's first compacted wood fibre insulation, laminated timber construction. [Presented by Julie Villard, CCC EDA (Eco Design Advisor)]

Comfort stop along the way

3:00pm – 3:45pm: 35 Tonbridge Street, Merivale - TC3 timber raft foundations, solar central heating, prefab airtight EcoPanel walls, recessed uPVC SuperWindows. [Presented by Dan Saunders Construction and EcoPanel]

3:50pm - 4:25pm: 10 Fernbrook Place - Efficient and healthy family home. Passive solar design, solar central heating, with rainwater collection for edible garden. [Presented by Esjay Builders]

4:30 pm: Optional drinks and networking at Bailies Bar on Edgeware Road with a short walk back to English Park... or board the bus for a return to English Park at 4:45pm

4:45 pm: Arrive back at English Park
