This house was built by a professional couple, in a secluded gulley above Takamatua on the Banks Peninsula. It features our single sided Basalt Grey on Ivory 5-chamber uPVC frames. We think the colour works well with the lighter cedar cladding, while allowing a more neutral interior.
We also used Low E and Argon filled glass units, and one of the units features a 90 degree double glazed join. The house was designed by Jason Higham of Higham Architecture and was built by Mitch and the team at G D Frost Ltd.
The clients are an older Dutch couple, and were keen to be involved in all of the design decisions. It is a very energy efficient home, using a 140mm wooden frame, high levels of insulation and a plaster over Hebel panel finish. We used our 5-chamber Ivory frames and directly fixed them to the frame, using only a decorative sill on the internal reveal. We really liked the cedar and copper detailing, and the oversize Golden Oak entrance door.
The glass was high spec Low E and argon filled units from Metro Performance Glass. This project included for the first time our Lift & Slide door, a premium slider ideal for exposed sites with commanding views. The architect was a friend of the clients, Maijn Van Herel. The house was built by the very professional team at led by Dave Louw at PP Builders.
